The Most Useful Layer You’re Probably Overlooking
A case for the denim shacket—and 5 worth trying.
There are a few pieces I come back to every time the seasons shift.
A light knit. Relaxed yet structured pants. And without fail—a jacket that’s not really a jacket.
Technically, it’s a shacket. The kind of layer that slips easily over a tee but still looks intentional. It’s not heavy, but it adds structure. It’s not fussy, but it makes an outfit feel done.
I just picked up a new one from TikTok Shop—denim, oversized, softly boxy—and it reminded me why these layers have stayed in rotation for years.
NOTE: The link for mine is here BUT, at the time of posting, the price has tripled since I purchased it a few weeks ago! Is that common for popular TikTok Shop items? Let me know in comments!
They’re the piece you reach for when the forecast can’t make up its mind—and neither can you. Light enough to layer, structured enough to pull everything together.
Here are five I’d recommend right now—some from Australia, some from the US, and some that ship globally. I’ve included a mix of price points too.

What’s one jacket you’ve overlooked that could actually solve that “nothing’s quite right” feeling? Let me know in the comments!

Hi Tina I’m currently finding an unbuttoned black linen shirt the perfect trans seasonal “jacket” 😊
Bought two shackets last year from seed. Not too expensive. Kmart had some but never my size. Suzanne grae too but darker denim. .
